	Kahawa 1893 is a specialty coffee company founded by Margaret Nyamumbo, a third-generation coffee farmer from Kenya. After seeing that women supply 90% of coffee production labor for little or no financial gain, Margaret launched Kahawa 1893. Via our digital tipping system – with all tips matched 100% – we help farmers grow their businesses and build wealth.
Kahawa sources specialty-grade Arabica beans directly from female-owned and operated farms in Africa and give back to support them.

• Fun fact: African "Chai" Spice Coffee was the first coffee we ever sold by Kahawa! It's inspired by a traditional Kenyan coffee drink known as "Kahawa Chungu." The East African coast lies on the Indian Ocean and was the center of the ancient spice trade. Traveling spice traders stopped in Kenya to relax and enjoy coffee mixed with spices.
• Real spices, freshly ground and sourced directly from farmers by our friends at Burlap & Barrel. Just add warm milk to create a comforting, familiar cold-weather drink. Or, blend with ice and chilled milk for a delicious frappe!
